HELLO!

My name is Katie Fowler and I am a PhD candidate in the Ecology & Evolution group of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am studying how anthropogenic pressures (human activities) impact the health and reproduction of animals living in the wild and in human care. My PhD dissertation research includes several species: 1) African lions living in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area of Tanzania, 2) black-footed ferrets living in US Fish & Wildlife centers being bred for reintroduction into the wild, 3) Bactrian camels living in zoos, 4) yellow baboon reproductive strategies, and 5) sea turtles nesting in south Florida.
